gerv wha??
so, my wine club's first meeting was superb. it was so so so fantastic. we started late, but thats normal, considering majority of the members are malaysian-ish. It was an afternoon of cheese and crackers, fresh pate from the French Market, Doreen's infamous Wonton Brie thingy's and of course, wine wine wine!
Christine so very kindly took us newbies through the whole wine session. of course, she was the only one not really drinking. you are supposed to TASTE the wine. heh. (and she really knows her wine!! she's a food scientist!! is that the right term?) i only used my spittoon once. it was funny. we all had little plastic cups to use as our spittoons and a few of us used it. most of us, like me just drank the wine.
We started with white wine this month. from rieslings to pinot gris to gerveurtzs (is that how you spell it?) to chardonnays and finally sauvignon blancs. now dont get me wrong, i love my wine, but i normally only drink red wine. so the wine club's first meeting of white wine was not really my thing. but i enjoyed it regardless and i learned a thing or two about white wine.
so, the very first meeting of wine club went off without a hitch. (well, doreen and i had massive head-aches, which we reckon it was from drinking too much wine from 1pm) the next meeting is in august and normally a saturday afternoon. it will be reds. from rose to pinot noirs to merlots, to cabernet sauvignons to shirahs and so on. WHEEE!!
